The Department of Defence website redevelopment was a large-scale digital transformation project to modernise Defence’s entire web estate, improve accessibility, and create a more consistent user experience across its public-facing digital channels. The project included the redesign of the Defence website and the creation of one scalable Defence Design System to support Defence, Navy, Army, Air Force and Ministerial websites.

Leading the UX design for the Defence Design System and applying it to the Defence website experience. My role covered UX/UI design direction, component patterns, accessible interface design, content architecture, and collaboration with developers and stakeholders to ensure the system could be adopted beyond a single website.

The rollout created a reusable front-end component library and a consistent digital foundation for Defence web teams, helping them deliver clearer, more efficient and more user-focused services at scale.
